And, we finally learn the truth. THIS is how beer sexing REALLY works. You drink a beer or three , and THEN you start checking out the quail tail...

Ya, white beard, bib on down to the belly - boots, the little girl. I concede. Once.

Males: The White, The M Gold, The Red. Who is that is the left back corner. Which other pic is it in.

JJMR - but that takes the quess work out and its more fun quessing. I say take the suspected girls out and see where the eggs fall. That's more fun.

Told you she was fast. I feel like a snail.

ROFL Yep, I type pretty quickly. I don't have a speedy connection, though. The neighbors across the street have the fastest one around, but it's not available on my side of the street. Darn AT&T.

I believe the one in the corner is on the right in this picture:

Oh, and the Wild/brown is a male. Proven. No doubt. The other proven one is the smallest white. Also no doubt. He's been crowing for a week now. Both of those have been after the girls all evening, too, esp. the brown.

Its the brown, that I keep looking right past. So add that to the Male list. 4M/4F 1? Now which one am I missing.

Life span, opinions differ. But it does depend on their living conditions, feed, rest times, etc. 3-5 years I would think. Though most do not keep breeders past 8 months. When they start slacking off on the eggs in most cases. Just means they need a rest, force a molt, stop the egg laying for a time and give them a rest a couple times a year. Then they are good to go for another round.

The little Brown has earned his name. He is Randy. If you can't figure out why, you aren't old enough to know why.

Randy says that both of the two in that last picture are females.

So, that would be...

Manchurian -- one male, one female
English Whites - one male, 2 possible female (much larger than the male & no obvious male behavior yet. No proof, though, yet.)
2 dark (Boots & the one with the white bear & chest) - Randy says they are both girls. His inexperience could cause him to be mistaken.

Wild - Randy. A boy. No doubt about it.
Red - Buttercup's guess is a boy.

That's all from that hatch. If these guesses are right, then it's 4 boys & 5 girls. We'll hope Buttercup is wrong about Red.

Don't forget your M Gold - Colors showing proven male. And a very handsome one at that. Ah you are questioning my naming the Red as a Male. Well time will tell.
I dare you to take the other males out. We'll see how long it takes him to crow. Likes hanging around with that little M Gold, doesn't he. I see now why you don't want to give him up.

Oh, White beard and belly, will you name him please? I have one just like that, that is a hen. For certain, lays a beautiful egg, well, when she comes off her rest she will again lay a beautiful egg.

Well, according to Randy, if you name it Bell, you could easily change it to Bella. Randy could be right, he would know better than I. Actually someone said, everyone of those turned out to be hens. Hum. But he isn't chasing Red around, is he?
