Gorgeous grown babies bemba, love the % of Pied on them! Well on your way to working up to pure Whites

Interesting about your Cinnamon sex link conclusion... Have you tried hatching eggs from a Pied Cinnamon and Pied Silver pairing? Just wondering if the Pearl Grey's dominant color (and pearling) genes could have stomped all over the sex link end of things... and if you leave Pearl Grey out of the mix (as much as possible) if the outcome would be any different as far as Cinnamon being sex linked goes. I know the color and pearling genes of the Pearl Grey messes up my hatching plans quite often, lol.

Speaking of Heavily Pied/white wings...

This is a pretty lil bird. Hopefully it's a Hen. Hatched from eggs out of a flock of mixed light colors and light colored Pieds.

See what I mean bemba... Pearl Grey poppin' up out of light birds, just cuz it can lol.

I'm interested in seeing how this one matures... and if keeps all of it's pretty White or loses some as it matures. Gonna keep it if it is a Hen, she's carrying good genes.

Now, if I could just hatch some Chocolates, Coral Blues and Blondes this Pied I'd be set.

You could start your own strain of red-eyed guineas!

If you did, I know of a guy who runs a guinea farm and is trying to collect every variety possible. I know I'd be interested! But I already have all I can handle.

Thanks Peeps :) I am quite happy with them! As long as I get birds with more white every season there is progress!!

They are definitely recessive, its one person claiming they are sex linked, maybe he has a different strain who knows? Silver is a combination of cinnamon (red eye) and lavender so a silver is pure for both mutations, (being expressed at the same time) So if you mated a silver to a pearl grey you would get 100% pearl offspring all split for lavender and also split for cinnamon.

Check out this hen! She is one that has unusual pied markings, she has a lot more white that extends underneath, plus the white spots higher up! I can't wait to breed from her next season!

OMG Stunning!!!!!!!!! I love it! And wow, I want pics once you have pinto pieds in all the colours!!!

can you raise guineas with chickens ?
You can, and many do... but sometimes the Guineas become bullies and can be very aggressive towards the chickens (to the point of injuring them or even killing them). Also male Guineas and chicken roosters may not get along once everybody's hormones kick in full force, and it may end up being a fight to the death. I keep my chickens separately from my Guineas... but I only raise Silkies which I would not integrate with Guineas anyway (they do free range together tho, but are penned/cooped at night separately). The only birds I comfortably mix with my Guinea flocks are (grown) Peafowl and Turkeys who can all hold their own when it comes to aggression.

Quote: Thanks Bemba. If it wasn't for you asking me a while back about the % of White on my Pied breeding stock or keets that I have hatched I wouldn't have given this lil keet much of a second glance, other than it being a Heavily Pied PG

With all of the other colors that I hatch/keep/hoard each season I can't keep them all (sigh), and all the other pretty colors end up filling my brooders and grow out pens by mid summer, lol. Watching your hatches getting more and more Pied from he hatches from your Heavily Pieds tho has me curious to see if I will get similar results from breeding my Heavily Pieds... and if I will ultimately (hopefully) end up with Pintos by going this route. I sure wish I had a whole row of breeding pens set up instead of breeding flocks tho, that would make this project a lot easier for me!
