Latest UPDATE on neighbors dog (LONG POST)

Yeah, as soon as I read that latest update this is exactly what I though.

I'm so sorry that you've had to go through this. I really hope that the son will be brought to justice or at least that he could be exposed as what he really is, to the law. I'm hoping for good news.

Hi Everyone,
nothing so far. We do have the game camera up and its pretty entertaining to watch the chickens (and us) around the coop. No sign of the dog. Maybe now that they know we mean business about shooting their dogs, they will keep the other one out. Funny thing is, the dogs only get out when the son is home and they aren't. Go figure.

Thanks for the support!

If the guy is opening your big door to the coop to bad you couldn't rig up something that would get on him and ye him along with catching him on the game cam. Me (just for kicks) I would rig up a bucket of bleach or something to were if he opens up the door he gets a nice bucket full of bleach.

If he complains about crowing then I'd get couple of those longcrowers!

If the dog showed up at my house chasing the chickens I would do the SSS.

Pitbull owners that keep their dogs chained up should be questioned! Better yet THEY should be reported to animal control and the dog picked up. Pitbull or no this is a cruel practice.
As for your incident with the pit and your hubby, THAT pit is also a danger to humans not only animals. You should follow up. He tried to attack your husband and is a vicious dog (regardless of the breed) He has to be put down. I'm going through the same thing. But I lost almost all my birds. But managed to catch one of the dogs.
These dogs did not attemp any attack on a human, But that dog did. You should insist on having him put down if he is still alive. GRRRRR! I see the dog is dead, but there still is the other dog. I have a great dane and didn't know they could be that predatory. Precious takes good care of our chickens. Sad to see what bad owners can do to good dogs

Im glad your husband got the job done, my ghetto neighbors have a pit chained to a tree. Im waiting for the day that dog gets into my yard to mess with my animals, it wont be a happy ending for the dog. Pitbull owners NEED TO BE LICENSED.

Pitbulls in general aren't bad, if raised right they are wonderful companions. They are just the preferred "fighting dogs" for the people who fight them. Should everyone with roosters be made to have a license just because some people do cockfights?

My MIL has a Great Dane mix and she is absolutely a doll. However she will chase and kill squirrels and cats that come in the back yard. She is great with kids and people and other dogs. Go figure. You just never know. I agree with ConchRepublic on the owners making the dog good or bad. The first dog is dead and we don't want to shoot the other one. They have had fair warning again so I hope it doesn't come to that. That great dane seems like a good dog- very playful but and I don't think he is trying to kill the chickens- that is the sad part and because his owners won't keep him up, he will probably get shot too. Just a shame. We love animals, especially dogs. It was really hard for my DH to shoot that dog- even when it was coming at him. I am glad he did but it was hard for all of us.

Roosters don't break loose and kill livestock.

I've seen fighting roos get out and do some serious damage to other animals and people. Where I came from they had a large number of underground cock fighters.

Also, that's true with a large number of animal, and also ALL dogs for that matter. Should people need a permit to keep pets period?
