My little chicken named Nugget is 4 1/2-5 months old. We’ve thought he was a he but now we think he might be a she. Anyways “he” started staying inside and not coming out unless we physically put him out and he would usually just go back in. He’s been very slow and yesterday I decided to check for mites. When I was feeling around his crop (which was empty cause heaven also lost appetite) I felt hi a heart felt EXTREMELY fast, I felt his sisters heart who is from the same batch and hers was like 10x slower (she’s has been acting completely normal). My little Nugget has also not wanted to move very much, and he isn’t making any sound. I checked around his vent, and in his armpit and various places on the rest of his body and there are no mites. He’s my favorite little guy, I hope he’s okay. 🥺🤞

Welcome To BYC

Can you post some photos of him, his poop and your housing?
Do you have another cockerel or just him?
What do you feed?

How much space do you have in your coop/run?

If he's not eating/drinking well, take him aside and see if he'll eat by himself. He may be sick or he could be bullied. Hard to know.

Hopefully with more info and photos we can offer better suggestions.

I am unable to get a picture of his poop at the moment because we are on a camping trip cause we have been losing our minds in quarantine 😅 but I attached some pictures of him I took right before we left. We have one other roo who is 3 weeks older, but I don’t really see them interact. Little Nugget hasn’t started crowing if he is indeed a Roo, where as our other roo (Feathers) started crowing at least 2 months ago. We did have 4 other Roos cause we weren’t the most lucky with our chicks and we rehomed them 2 days ago. We are still using Perina start and grow chick food. Nugget (the “sick” roo) is a black Cochin x light Brahma bantam black bantam, and our other roo is a black Cochin x light Brahma bantam. I did see his poo yesterday and though I don’t have a picture it did look normal. Before we left I also tried getting him to eat and drink by himself and he doesn’t want to. He’ll only eat when put him in the run but he is only eating very very little. We have a camera in both the coop and the run and I can see he is staying inside. He is shuffling around in the pine shavings but still just staying inside with his sister, the two of them are always together, but she will go out to eat and drink. Our other roo never goes after him, when we had the other 4 Roos our main roo would team up with the other dominant roo and go after the other 3 (who were all ameruacanas) but now we have rehomed the other dominant man and all the ameruacanas. Our main roo is now hardly crowing where as when we had all those roosters he would crow all day long. Nugget was/is definitely at the bottom cause every one would sleep on the top perch while him and one of the ameruacanas would sleep on the perch underneath. Now he sleeps on the top cause now there is room. I also added a picture of his sister which is the final picture.
