Laundry Horror Stories

Ummm....let's see...one morning I was REALLY tired & DH asked if I'd wash a load of his work clothes (dark ones). I said "sure" and before I could even stop myself, I'd poured bleach into the load & shut the lid!

I realized it about 1/2 through the wash. Needless to say, we had to go shopping for ALL new work clothes for him!

Other than that--just the usual gum & pens going through the washer/dryer...and the occasional fishing lead weights (those are good for the dryer, I'm sure!) I've also had to have SEARS come up & take our wash machine apart to get FISHING LINE out from around the aggitator...hmm....I wonder whose THAT was?

The only "GOOD" thing is that I get to keep any/all monies I find in the clothes...which is usually a few bucks every once in a while, lots of change and TWICE now--$20 bills!

Which all goes to my "chicken fund" of more birds & coops!

dh put a whole bunch of jeans in the washer, and i put them in the dryer after they were done, and i kept hearing a thud everytime the dryer rotated. i ended up opening that thing three times, but i could never figure out what it was. finally i pulled out all of the jeans and lo and behold, there was my husbands hunting knife, WIDE open!!! i am was sooo mad, as i had two pairs of brand new, not even washed yet, jeans in there. luckily for him it didnt slice any of MY jeans up! i told him he was lucky i didnt slice my finger open reaching into the dryer like that.... men!

I love doing laundry. Really.
Only time I have not enjoyed it was when we had no washing machine and I had to lug it all down to the laundry mat. Wash it and then bring it all home. Heavy wet laundry. Several times a week.

I cant complain. My dh helps out.. My 6 year old helps out. And I enjoy it. Worked in a laundry for years during HS and college. BEST job.
When I was married to my x(a Marine) I used to do his ACUs and some of his fire teams stuff as well.

Actually, I don't HATE laundry as much as other tasks, but it just becomes never-ending (like the movie Groundhog Day) with a DH and teens.

I do LOVE these laundry stories. Can't beat the lurid nature of everyday tales!

Want to come here? I'll bake something for ya. I'd rather bake all day than touch one load of clothes. UGH. Hate. But it MUST be done.

I will usually have several loads in various stages through out the house. One in the washer, one in the dryer, one waiting to go in, another just come out waiting to be folded and another folded and waiting to be put away. During the warmer months I have stuff on the clothes line nearly daily. If my dryer was vented outside I would have clothes hanging in the basement like my grandparents did when I was growing up.
I was going to do this, but since I might have to bring my girls into the basement it isnt feasible to dry laundry down there on lines as well. Granted they will be in their cages when inside but still.

My dh always knows how I am doing physically and mentally by the state of the laundry. If I am sick or depressed about something laundry comes to a crawl. PPD was tough. This past week with my voice being gone and my throat being sore. Slowed me down some. But I have been catching up all day and loving it.

I also do not mind washing dishes. Or general cleaning. Or other physical work. I do the painting, digging, planting, most up keep, animal care etc. DH and the dd help. But I am the glue and the oil here. I have to admit that when I went back to work I panicked about how I was going to keep up with everything. But now I have it figured out and its working great.

I had a dress that had the wonderful characteristic of having a very slimming effect. I put it in the wash without reading the label and it was ruined when the colors ran.

Now THAT is a horror story! We only find a great dress about every decade or so...

WEll then come over. I let you go hogwild in my basement.

One of my red socks got in with my dads white load when I was 8. The poor guy had pink unders for months. My mother used bleach it took a while, to get the pink out.
