Lavender Ameraucana Breeders .... UNITE

Pics
^^^ No kidding!!! I was beyond thankful that all 15 of my Aussie chicks arrived alive and well, but it took almost 60 hours to ship them from the hatchery that is only 7 hours away from my front door. AND, they left them overnight, outside, on the cargo dock - in 29 degree temps in early March.

I'll be MORE than happy to write them a letter. This is preposterous - I can understand raising the rates or attaching a fee, IF it's going to result in more efficient live-animal shipments, better shipping conditions (like, NOT being left outside overnight on some cargo dock), and making sure that Express Overnight Shipping is actually what it says it is - not 48-72 hours during business days.

Looking for lavender Ameraucana hatching eggs
Go to the Ameraucana CLub FOrum under the thread "What's for Sale" there were a few people that said they may have what you are looking for. Remember when you buy eggs or chicks they are not all going to end up on the top row of a show. Everyone produces culls and generally speaking only 10% that are hatched are worthy of keeping plus possibly a few that can be used in your breeding program. There are those exceptions but those breeders don;t sell hatching eggs or day old chicks usually.

I have one last set of lav eggs for sale. PM me and I will give you the link. I only sell a few dozen a year when my incubators are full and they are ALWAYS charity auctions. Most times I give them to partners-in-crime that are working on them as well.

Class of 5/18 picture didn't go too well, but there are a few lavs in here

Good luck kynewbchick!

Does anyone have any tips for sexing lavenders? My chicks will be 6 weeks old this weekend. I want to pull the girls out of there because I am creating a bachelor pen and mixing in a hatch of 10 week old boys.

All my lavenders are getting pink in their combs. There are only 4, and 3 look like boys by their stance, but the 4th I really don't know. Even the 3 boys, I am guessing. Maybe I will have a chance to take photos this weekend. Did I read that 3 rows of bumps in the comb confirms a boy?
Thanks for any advice!

Post some pictures Please.

This is the lav hen and the lag roo from crystalcreek... they are just gorgeous in the sunlight (and currently living in our isolation area...)
I always wondered what her birds would look like with a different photographer.Glad you posted them.Very nice.
Cindy's birds all look great all the time..lol. I have been to her beautiful property in person several times...she culls heavily and it shows. All of our lav birds are crystal creek birds...and some of her blacks. We also have some blues and splash from Catkai.we recently acquired some lav/ blacks from Harry Shaffer. We have little ones all over (under broodies) and are thrilled. We have a set of Cindy's eggs that hatched before the shaffer eggs came in, those are doing well. So all of those go with our main lav/black flock, already established. Hopefully we are set this year. ;)
