Lavender Ameraucanas are Hatching!šŸ’œ

This has been a long 3 weeks, chick hatching is way more suspenseful than I would’ve ever thought! Two chicks so far and hopefully more to come! I’m feeling so blessed, because I wasn’t sure if any would hatch. 3 more eggs in the bator...
New chicks this week too! Something I am very new at. Thankfully my Molly (Black Australorp) did all the work. She now has 4 beautiful babies. Unfortunately I learned too late that other hens were laying in her box when she stepped out for a minute. 14 eggs and 4 hatched. I'll know better next time. Congrats on your hatching babies!!!!!

They probably crawled right in there with her to lay actually :)

I remove new eggs laid every day from under my silkie - she has seven cochin eggs under her and they're marked, so I know which are suppose to be there. I tried to separate her in part of the coop, but she wanted the freedom to mingle with the others once a day and got through my wire barricade. I'm not set on a hatch from her as I have a set of eggs on the incubator, but I thought I would let her brood if she wanted too.

Hopefully next year I won’t have to incubate either! I am currently building a brooder pen for mama and babies. Incubating is too stressful!! Enjoy your chickies!!
