@RavynFallen I believe has bred lav orps to lav ams, but I forget the future pairings down the line, what color eggs come from the offspring, and such. Ravyn, can you weigh in here?

Ya, OE & EE or olive egger & easter egger are both mix breeds. I get that but I wonder if the lav will remain true and make a Lavender Olive or Easter Egger.

Also my buff orp isn't mean, just not sit on your lap friendly.![]()
Guess I can toss in my 2 cents, lol... I only did a 1st gen cross with Lav Orp and Lav Am though... then I switched to my Lav Orp and Black Australorp project, lol...
If your Lav Am is carrying 2 blue egg genes, then the offspring will be Easter Eggers (not OE's) and lay green eggs... Orpington eggs are too light for getting olives, you'll get greens in first generation... crossing back can be a crap shoot depending on who you breed back to on egg color... going back to the Am will ensure you don't lose blue altogether...
As for the Lavender feather color, yes it will breed true... it doesn't matter the breed, really, if they are Lavender then they have 2 copies and each will always pass down 1 copy to their offspring making them Lav as well...
Hope this helps...![]()

Great info, thanks!
Do you know how I would know if the Lav am cockerel is carrying 2 blue egg genes? I am deciding right now between culling him altogether or making a bachelor pad. I will need a bachelor pad either way and will probably only breed to the first generation. Then still feed my family. DH isn't thrilled by the color and I definitely have other breeding project going on.![]()
I did find a genetics calculator, that was fun.It said my buff Orp that is brooding (under my house
) will produce black chicks with her only suitor which was the Lav, if anything hatches.
@WVduckchick
Thanks for posting the egg color charts too.I will probably just bookmark this page for future reference.

I got him from a local breeder that has John Blehm blood lines only. So yay, I can get Lav EE.! That should be fun.Did you hatch him? Where did he come from?
If he's not from known lines the only way to tell is through breeding and growing out his daughters to see what they lay...
And yes, Lav bred to any other color breeds as black since it's a recessive of black... the buff will probably show up in the offspring as major leakage, similar to the pics the other poster put up of Buff Blacks...
