In the Brooder
A few weeks ago I noticed one of the two of my Lavender Orpington chicks seem to be maturing faster than the other. She/he is much bigger and heavier than the other and it dawned on me it might be a rooster. There has been no crowing and only starts yelling when it is picked up. Online pictures make me think its a rooster but there are no tail feathers to speak of so I am still not sure.
I am still new to this since I have only had chicks for a couple of years and always had pullets and no babies. I got these two as 8 week old (hatched Feb 22) and the growth difference is been very pronounced in the last several weeks. They are almost 5 months old and apparently no one buys roosters because there are so many out there. Any suggestions?
