Hi Everyone,
I'm back. I posted 5 weeks ago about my pair of Lavender Orpingtons, and the consensus was that they were both hens.
Since then, I've been noticing changes in the one I am questioning. Her name is Rosie. I got her and her sister, Posey at the end of April and they appeared to be around 4 weeks old at that time. All I know is they were born in March, so I guess they're about 4-5 months old.

Rosie's hackle feathers are growing long and thin. Her "hair" literally blows in the wind, lol. Rosie's tail is starting to aim downward at the end. Saddle feathers are coming in hard but I can't get close enough to determine if they're thin or not. Both of them are extremely skittish and will not be held.

Rosie is most definitely the head of my little flock. I have 8 total, all born around the same time. Rosie is the biggest. She is also the only one with a red comb and wattles. The other hens are slowing turning, but most still have tiny yellow combs.

There has been no crowing, or any "rooster-like behavior" other than being very bossy, but that can be due to head-hen status, so...

An old friend of mine stopped by today and she's had chickens for years, so I asked her to take a look and she's not 100% sure, but she said Rosie is definitely looking like a rooster.

I'm going to attach a bunch of photos I took today. I wish I could get closer, more detailed shots but this is the best I could do.

Thanks in advance for any insights, and opinions!!

Thanks, the pics are helpful.
I noticed today that my other one, that I am certain is a pullet, is only now starting to sprout wattles. They are siblings from the same clutch, so it doesn't make sense that one would mature so much more quickly if they're both pullets.

Sigh. It's not that I don't want, or can't have a rooster; I don't want babies.

you could always simply remove the eggs at the end of each day. that minimizes the chances of any incubation. kind of secondary birth control
