Lavender Orpington Thread

Hi, I'm new to LO's and am in the process of hatching out 7 literally as type. So far 2 are out one is normal lav. Color but one is yellow with lavender down the back. Is this normal

Yes, they may have a little yellowish hue for a few days. Here are a couple that I hatched last week, and their father

I always get nervous about the pink-tipped toes when they hatch. They eventually turn gray & the feet look like they should as the chick ages. Does anyone else see this?

Here is the yellow on in question.

Oh that's alot more yellow than I thought you meant also. :/ I think someone snuck into the bushes...

Agree with you there. Went back and looked at old pics and their toes are more pink to begin with, but full slate by a few weeks. And interestingly, the outer toes seem to darken first...
Wow! that chick is yellow. I thought you meant like this: Some of mine have yellow stomachs & pink toes as chicks. Their feathers all grow in lav, & then the toes turn gray by 5-6 weeks old.

got the eggs from someone who only has LO'S and they don't free range. Must be a recessive gene of some sort.
