Lavender Orpington Thread

Just starting out with chickens and learning something new about them everyday. I didn't even know there was such a chicken as a Lavender Orpington but they sure are pretty!! I think next year I want to get a couple.

Welcome Kayla!!!! I think even the best of us learn somthing new everyday!! I know i do lol!
Lavender Orpingtons are beautiful birds! Mine are still young and are not completely full grown yet. They are my only chicken that follows me around my yard all day lol.
I know OrpieLover sells Lav Orp eggs, if your ever interested in buying some! She has some beautiful Lavs!!!

I couldn't get very many pictures of my Lavenders because they were not being very photogenic!

Nice photos. Your Lavender Roo is gorgeous!! I lost my huge lavender roo recently. He was such a sweetie. Every baby, whether it was a chick, a duck, guinea, turkey or even a kitten or puppy was ALL HIS lol. He also would take turns sitting on eggs in the nestboxes when the broodies got up to eat. He always had some kind of baby out in the yard following him around and he would scratch up bugs and strut around ,so proud of them lol. I have a bunch of his chicks growing out now and it looks like there will be a lot of little roos, so I hope one ends up just like him.

I will be up all night tonight! We just had a suprise birth!!! My nigerian dwarf doe just had her kid about an hour ago!! Wasnt expecting it, sobi was completely unprepared!!? I thought i had atleast 3 more weeks to go!! its so cold here tonight aswell, around 20 degrees. So i had to bring them in the house! The BF loves me right now lmao!

How cute! Congrats on your new goatie baby. I am gonna show this pic to dh..lol. He thinks I'm weird when I bring or hatch chicks in the house. I want goats!!!

Thanks! I almost lost my rooster to raccoons... but somehow he escaped! The raccoons had grabbed his face! I was in total shock! I know how it feels to lose a chicken... I have lost a lot of my chickens to raccoons, coyotes, and recently to red tailed hawks...

Lavender Orpingtons are my favorite type of chicken! They are stunning!
