Lavender Orpington Thread

Pics
They can be shown but the american poultry association does not recognize them. Specific orpington clubs and small groups would let you
I know they're not recognized, yet so I won't get points or anything. How would I go about finding a local club that would allow them? Are they considered a whole separate breed or just a different variety of the Orpington breed?

Mine probably aren't the best for showing anyway, so it'll be a while until I show them. Their beaks and legs are a bit lighter, so I need to work on that. Mine look exactly like the chick in this picture: http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5136/5489315151_12b5f46f86.jpg. I'll post an actual picture of mine tomorrow, for ya'll to critique.

i would type in your local area on google for a poultry association. That's how I got in touch with people in my area

So excited to finally share this with Backyard Chickens!I've found and developed the first offspring of Laced Lavender Orpingtons. If anyone else has seen this color pattern let me know, but I've been working hard to find anything like this. This are 100% Lavender from a english Bloodline.

Oh, they are super cute. thanks for the pictures, I love to see pictures. O.K. I also really like to take pictures of Megan's chickens and make up silly captions. Hey, my kids are almost pre-teen and anytime that I can get a laugh or silly response from them is priceless.

Anyway here are the parents, AKA Ricky and Collette.

Oh, Ricky what big wings you have. Really, do you have to be so loud. I just want a little alone time.

Look dad, I'm getting my wing feathers. Do you think I'm, cute? (This is Charlotte )

I called them Faith and Hope but Megan re-named them, Holly and Charlotte.
oh did I forget that they are actually hers.

Hi All! Mind if I join in?

I have two little 7 week old Lavender Orpington Cockerels. They are super cute, and my favorites out of my flock (second only to my Polish Pullet.

). I would really like to get into breeding these guys, since I love their color and temperament. I'm looking for some more info regarding their genetics and standard. Can they be shown as an "exhibition" breed or are they not able to be shown at all?
Hi,

Yes, please do join, I hope more do this thread is kinda quiet.

Do you have any pictures? I have to admit, that I love these two for their temperament. We have two kids, a dog, a cat, and lots of little nieces and nephews so we NEED nice, as everyone ALL free ranges together.

I hope that Charlotte and Holly end up being hens, and are as super friendly as Ricky and Collette. I don't know much about the standard, but then again we are just a family looking for some nice chickens, that lay well. Collette has pretty much laid every day, except when she is broody. I had wondered about these guys standard or type, but then I realized that temperament means more to us. It would be interesting to hear what others with more knowledge think, out of curiosity only since these are my daughters chickens. I do know that their blood line is from Greenfire farm, which I understand people here either love or hate.

All I know is you gotta love a rooster that watches my son play basketball, baseball, and just enjoys hanging out with the family while Collette takes her break in the coop to lay her egg and get some alone time away from Ricky.
