Lavender Orpington?

HINK, I did not think you did get a Priscilla bird. just don't think you want anyone spreading that rumor without it being addressed. The US AG Dept is like the IRS, NO ONE wants a visit from them. lolol

How do you know we didn't get a visit from the USDA already??

indeed we have had a nice visit with them.. they know where all our birds came from and how we developed them.. all documents to prove it.. it was a nice session with them..it was pleasant to talk with the USDA... nothing to hide or lose sleep over here..

I did not know you had someone over from our friends in the AG Dept. I am glad you had a nice visit. Never thought you had anything to worry anyway. But, still think it is nice to nip rumors in the butt. I would think you would be even more proud to tell us ALL how you did it. Step by step. That is what this threads is asking. And you've did it and done it already. lolol It certainly takes more effort doing the way you achieved your line then just buying an Orp overseas and shipping them over and breeding them. Sorta takes the fun outta it. Doesn't it?

Those statements are entirely irresponsible and inflammatory. No dredging up old personal issues please. That is my last word on that subject on this thread.

Now, I dont want to kill Beth's thread, so please continue your discussion and keep it on track.

My apologies if anyone got the impression I was slandering or discrediting anyone with my comment earlier re: who created what first.

It has been my understanding that Middleton has been THE person responsible for Lav Orps. Even if Hinkjc and Wilds of PA did not import (which, I never said they did) are they also entitled to the same level of 'credit' for 'creating' the birds because it is a different country with different bloodlines? Or in this case would be it for 'developing' their own lines?

I'm not saying developing their own strains was not in itself years of careful work, which is clearly has been - they both breed some very lovely birds that I hear nothing but great things about.

If I or the OP took a lav ameraucana and a black orp - and through years our own careful and tireless work created fluffy lav orps, would we also get the same level of recognition as 'creators' of lav orps? I would guess no, because other people have already done so, and years before the OP or I would have even started.

If Dr. Carefoot gets the solo credit for 'discovering' and 'developing' the chocolate gene then why wouldn't Middleton get the 'credit' for her work with Lavender?

I could very well be completely wrong and off base, and so again, I apologize. I'd just like to know what circumstances qualify someone for 'creating' and which are for 'developing' lines. I really, truly, do not mean to offend, I'm only looking for clarification on the nomenclature.

Wasnt there someone a year or two ago harassing Jody about these lavenders and how they came about them?

Seems strangely familiar.

Amazing, you can take a several month break from this board, and all the childish behavior is still the same.

I think this subject really needs to die already.

I wish everyone wasn't so afraid to speak freely, both those developing colors and those interested in creating new colors.
I have no idea what is going on here in this thread but many comments that simply come across as questions are being taken in some odd way, as if information from times past is being secretly injected in subliminal ways. There is clearly something personal going on here, and it's a shame.

Alice... I think if you discover or create something NEW then you would get credit for it. By recreating Gold Laced Orpingtons, which I may or may not accomplish, I certainly wouldn't get any credit for creating it... someone else did all the hard work to come up with the idea. All I did was reverse engineer the concept... I would get credit for maybe having a good LINE of Laced Orps or developing one as you say...but not for creating Gold Laced Orps.
