Lavender Orpingtons - gender help

One of mine looked like a rooster from a young age due to it's large red comb, but turned out to be a pullet. I think you need to always wait longer on them until they get their adult feathers, they are tricky.

Thank you! I'm still hopeful.. and perplexed why they look so big compared to my other chicks that are only a week younger. I reached out to the lady I bought the Orps from trying to clarify hatch date. Looking at pics of other Orps mine are either freakishly big, or they were older than she stated... and i never had orps, so I assumed she was honest and they're a bigger breed. But they're huge even compared to Cochins and all the other LF I have.

Any chance there's a thread that shows ages and size of chickens?

American lav orps are big. I call my roosters "turkey sized" although they aren't quite that big lol. English ones, I believe, are a bit smaller.

This is a 3 month old lav orp cockerel (99% sure male), with a 5.5 month old blue marans pullet. He's already bigger than she is.

And you can check out the Lav Orp threads for lots of pics.

@Faraday40 has some great pics of kids holding them, for perspective of size.

I think I may be in the same situation....

Here are what I thought were my 2 male lav orps. (Now I'm thinking I hatched 7 females & only 1 male.) I nicknamed the male with the gold leakage "Dinner" but DD didn't appreciate my logical name. She calls him "Pretty Boy." She wants to keep him & I must admit, his unusual coloring is getting better looking.
*He's going through the typical, awkward-looking, chicken on stilts phase.

I sold all the females because what I need is a male. Below is the other one with the large comb & wattles. The body of this lav looks very female and its face is not as dark red as the brother. Both are almost 17 weeks. The confirmed male has gold laced saddle & hackle feathers in addition to thick shanks & red comb/wattles. Is there any chance this lav below could be my future rooster?

Here's our silkie with her 2 chicks. (7 weeks old) Pretty sure since hatch that there's a male & female. Depending on my lav roo situation, I may end up keeping this bllk/lav split male.

... and of course, our good, old, sweet, boy, "Mr Dummy-pants" (blk/lav split) He's too old fertilize the whole flock, so he's in semi-retirement.

The lavender looks like a hen to me.
