Lavender Silkie Question

You bred blue to lav and then bred the splits together and got true lav?

That would be Bl/bl lav/lav x Bl/bl lav/lav. I think. So on average 25% would be lavender, 50% blue lavender and 25% splash lavender?

In a nutshell Yes!

Here are some pictures of the 25/50/25 breeding.

With you first breeding you should acquire all split birds/carrying the lavender gene. If you bred them back together I believe you would get 25% Lavender. Don't hold me to this, Sonoran would have to help us on this one.

But, I think the best way to do it, is to breed the pullets hatched from the breeding back to the father? Or you could breed the offspring together. Then, you can take all the Lavender and breed them back together and get 100% Lavender offspring.

Love those babies!

Thanks! Breeding the Lav gene has been quite exciting. It definately has taken me in a new direction. I have to say that the Porcelains are my new Fav color!

When my Lav Cockerel and Buff x Lavender Showgirl are old enough and I am going to breed for the Porcelain color. I can't hardly wait!

I didn't breed for it, it starting to come out of my Lavender breedings, so all my Lav & Splits could and have given me Porcelains. But now that I have them, I'll be breeding just for them.
