Lavender Silkie Question

Quote:
My hubby left me alone with the kidlet & the farm in the last 2 blizzards we had. He was stuck at work for a few days each time, so to get even I let the 2 feet of snow fall and was on eggbid. Needless to say, we have a new quad of fluffies in that barn now, and his checking account is WAY lower. lol Well if your gonna make it in OT you might as well spend it!!! He was home a day earlier for the second snow fall. Gee I wonder why?

Wonder if the seller will allow us to split an order.

When my Lav Cockerel and Buff x Lavender Showgirl are old enough and I am going to breed for the Porcelain color. I can't hardly wait!

I didn't breed for it, it starting to come out of my Lavender breedings, so all my Lav & Splits could and have given me Porcelains. But now that I have them, I'll be breeding just for them.

I have another question about lavenders. How often do you get birds with inhibited feather growth?

hey can I throw down a question? ;0

Is there a standard for lav color, is the lighter almost white color lavender what breeders are aiming for or the richer darker lavender? My good quality ones are very light in color and my hatchery one is much darker as is a lot of the hatchery ones I have seen. Are breeders striving or light or dark lavender? Personally I like the darker color and want my birds darker even I it is not as accepted but am curious

I had the same question before, and asked those that are introducing the color for acceptance. The answer I got was the color is listed in the standard of perfection and that is what they are going with. lol I know it really doesn't answer the Q. But there was a discussion on the silkie forum about it also I believe. But if you look at the Lavender colors in other breeds you'll get your answer. I finally got mune last year when I saw the Ameraucanas at the Ohio National show.
