Hi Lorije1
I too picked up this thread a couple of days ago and keep logging in to see how things are doing, i'm in Northland, New Zealand.
I'm new to Backyardchickens and this is my first post.
I have been thrilled to watch someone else go far and beyond the norm in looking after this delightful Rooster.
Also all the helpfull advice that has been pouring on to these pages, i have copied the receipes into a "Chicken Medicine" page in my computer.
I have learn't so much from you all reading these pages, i even went out lastnight with a high powered torch & high powered reading glasses while putting them all to bed, and had a really good look at the head and feet of each one as they sat on the perch, all looked very healthy. I'm sure they all thought i had lost it....
I have nothing to add to the care of Kubota, you are doing a fantastic job well done.
My tuppence worth i thought i would share with the community is, i had 2 little chicks about 3 days old, i have no idea what was wrong but their poo went funny and the first one too die had mucus coming out of its mouth. I didn't know what to do, so decided something was better than nothing. So i got a small steel bowl with a lip all around the edge, and put a piece of chicken wire over the top, then placed boiling water in the bowl, put about 6 drops of Tea Tree oil, 6 drops of Eucalyptus Oil & 1/4 teaspoon of Honey. Placing this very carefully into the container the chick was in and covering the container over the top with newpaper and towels to keep the steam in, leaving this in there till the water went cold. I did this 3 times a day and the little chick survived.
I did this for another chick that was about a month old, that stopped eating, by the second day he had jumped out of his container and i found him up above me on a perch. He's now a lovely big Rooster.
I know we all feel like we wish we could help you do a shift here and there, but not possible, all that work and managing to keep us all posted with his progress, fantastic effort.
