Laying eggs in pong

I am so glad I found this thread about ducks laying in pond! I have three ducks, two laying and one just recently started. There is a duck house and a carport (hehe) that they were laying in. In the past they were both laying in the carport. Now the older duck is laying in the house and the younger one is laying in the pond. Have no idea why. The ducks get along with all of the animals and there is no sign of aggression. They have an enclosed area with the pond and the houses, so no animals are getting in. Don't get it.
Any other idea?

Ducks do odd things. Some people keep their ducks in the shelter till 9 or so, whenever they generally are done laying. But there are off days, when they'll lay late morning or in the afternoon.

I find if there's a fake egg in a little nest, many times the ducks will lay there. For a while, anyway. They are on their own trajectory.

I keep mine locked up until 8:00, and 90% of the time, all eggs have been laid at that point. After that, it depends on the duck and the day. I have one girl that will run off and hide a nest. I have another that will drop an egg as she is walking, not caring at all where it ends up. If I notice that some late eggs are being laid, I will keep them in their house an extra half hour the next day. I don't like playing Easter Egg Hunt every day - we have way too many good hiding spots. Try keeping them penned longer, and see if that helps.
