Hi! I have raised these chickens for a little over a year. Last year, they started laying Eggs in March. I put in lights inside their coop that supposedly makes it so they’ll lay year round. They have been up for a month or two now and the nests are eggless stop. Any idea if that actually works or are they too cold or what?

All chickens take breaks from laying. They need to. It is a bummer when everyone stops at the same time. I'd double check that they haven't moved to laying somewhere other than the nests. If that's not the issue, then maybe it's time to molt. Try turning off their lights for two or three weeks, then turning them back on at night.

Thanks for the advice. Maybe I’ll try that:D

As a new chicken Mom, I didn't realize that chickens go through a molting about once a year. Right at the beginning of Fall this year when it started getting cool, all of my girls stopped laying over the course of a week. It was about a month later before they all started to lay again. I didn't know what was going on and thought something was wrong. I asked around and figured out they were all looking rough and not laying because they were molting. :D Could possibly be that.

I'm STILL a new chicken Mom, so I could be wrong, but just a suggestion.

I keep lighting in my coop because of predators and I like to be able to check on them. But my girls lay basically all year round.
