    how old do hens have to be to lay eggs. (normally start)

    Normally 20-24 weeks but can be as early as 16 weeks or as late as 30 or more weeks depending on breed/ line and time of year.

    2x- couple of my leghorns started @15 wks and some RIR started close to 28 wks. The rest all started from 18-22 wks.
