My understanding is that EEs can be late layers... Mine is 23 weeks and she's no were near yet. Her comb is about as pink as your girls', and not red at all. Usually you will know they're getting close with the reddening of the comb, then the squatting (if she's a squatter). If you really want to be sure, pick her up and hold her like a football, but backwards, with her head sticking out from under your arm. Take a look at her vent, if it appears moist, then she's close... then gently place your first three fingers in that area and feel around for her pubic bones. They'll feel like little points under the skin. If they are 2.5-3 fingers apart then she's really close. Anything under that, and you have time to wait.

Our EEs combs are much redder than that (some of them at least). I have also heard of the late laying. I am still wondering what egg color the red ears on EEs mean. Thanks for your help!
