Hello all, my flock of 5 has decided yet again to test what little chicken knowledge I have gained by laying only yolks. We've had shell-less eggs before, but this is the first time I've seen them lay yolks without shells. It happened yesterday and this morning (see below photo). When I search online I keep coming up with egg yolk peritonitis and that doesn't sound good.
They will be a year old in October; two of the chickens have dirty butts, I'd read that's a sign that they're laying the yolks. Much to their dismay I picked them all up yesterday and checked their vents; nothing looked out of place. The RIR with the dirty butt had a clean vent that was pink; the Delaware's was a bit harder to see than the rest, and now I'm debating before work to hold her down and try to get a better view. None of them are acting abnormally, but if this is an infection I'd rather get on top of it before any of them start looking sick.
I appreciate any help or advice.
Thank you!
