laying?

    when do ducks start to lay? do they lay all year round (they are indian runners btw not even hatched yet)...

    do i need to make some kind of nest for them to lay the eggs in...

    i dont even know if my soon to be ducks are hens or drakes! im incubating 2 eggs they are due to hatch next week and knowing me luck i will end up with 1 drake and 1 hen!

    anyways do i need some kinda nest? they will be in a duck house im gonna build its a house/run combo and it will al be on one level

    a female will build her own nest... just keep her safe when she does. Runners lay a lot of eggs, maybe around 300 a year? mine live in the comforts of inside so they have an even temp and light, and i'm still getting eggs. they will take breaks usually in winter.
