Do not use mason jars in feed bags. I have just now ruined an entire bag of feed because another mason jar was mistakenly left in there and when I replaced the jar I use everyday it shattered. No one seems to know where the other jar came from....

I am so stinkin' mad!

For my feed scoops, I take the half gallon milk or orange juice containers and cut them off about halfway. The top half, with the lid and the handle becomes the scoop. Easy, free, and when one wears out (I've had some I've been using for two years or more), they are easily replaceable.

Great idea! I haven't gotten around to getting an official scoop and make a few trips with a cup or lug out the bag. I will cut away tomorrow and have a new scoop

Free is good.

We have a blue coffee can with a handle. I think it was Maxwell house, but i cant remember for sure. I use another one for compost, so whenever the chikies see a blue can they know it means food.

I just never thought of those things since we rarely have that around. We don't eat processed/canned food (or coffee) so many times I don't have containers that I can re-use. I do however have a milk container around here somewhere. I think I broke my mason jar habit! Literally!!
