Over the summer and into the fall I have been moving groups of chickens from one location to another allowing ground to rest. I have a least half dozen groups at any given time that vary considerably by age from 3 weeks to about 18 weeks. When I move their roost sites, the younger birds can make adjustment in just a couple days to new location while the bigger juveniles can take close to 2 weeks before they return to roost in location I select for them. About half dozen hens will go back to their preferred roosting site even when penned for as long as a year. Additionally, there is a breed effect. Aseel games even as adults move with pens very quickly while American Games are much more likely to go to old location or a new one when pen is moved.
