landlords are so greedy

Wow, I am sorry you have had bad experiences but all property owners who rent out their property are not greedy.

I would simply tell the property owner yes they are your pet chickens but show them how they are far away from the property and not hurting anything. I would probably say I hope you don't mind. If she says to get rid of them you can qualify them as helping pets for your anxieties or nerves or depression if you have any of that. It usually requires a note from your doctor and to register them as your service animals. My uncle did this for his dog and he was able to keep him. It's just a thought. Pets help us out in many ways and they can become service pets. Hope this helps out.
