We've had the new chicks for almost a week now and they are doing great. Question? Would it be ok to leave them alone in brooder for a day or two if supplied with enough food and water. Don't really want to do it but may have no choice.

Thanks

Hi patrolman490. I don't know what kind of setup you've got for your brooder, but I wouldn't have been comfortable leaving mine when they were only one week old. I had to change their water every couple of hours because they made such a mess with it and I worried about the heat lamp. But, if you have no choice, then there's really nothing else you can do.

I would just make certain the heat lamp is safe with stable temps, and there is plenty of water available and enough food.

Best of luck!

I find it best to hang the waterier high enough so the chicks can just reach the water and get a drink. It seems to stay cleaner that way and it also gives them more room to run around. Same with the feeder.
