Left for dead on my door

Thanks everyone, they are beautiful babies and little sweeties too.I’m just really glad I found them in time they were left on my front porch which I never use but they were so loud I heard them and brought them in. I have never heard of someone dropping chickens off before, cats yes, I get at least 2 strays a year that I have to find homes for. I don’t think they’re cold anymore but 2 will fall asleep then one pecks the sleeping others and they all start peeping should I be worried about pecking. I can’t change the color of bulb or get a heat lamp right now I live an hour away from any place that has those things.

What kind of j@ck@ss leaves chicks in a BAG on a DOORSTEP?! Ooooo, that gets my hackles up! I'm just glad they're ok. They look REALLY cute! I wouldn't worry about pecking. My newborns all did that. I think they're just playing. They have an instinct to peck anything in front of them, kind of like how puppies and infants put anything and everything into their mouths. It's how they find out what is food, I think.

I always used clamp desk lamps with halogen bulbs for heat for my reptiles and have used them with the chicks too. If you have a walmart or lowes nearby, that's what you can get for them (and it's much cheaper too).

Good luck with them!

Here's some new better (still dark and kind of hard to see though) pics of the chicks. What colors will they be and do you think they are all silkie.

Why hatch them if you don't want them? Some people just make you wonder. They are cute, wish someone would drop some off for me, lol. I better not say that, tomorrow, I will have gained 3 dogs and 12 chicks.

I don't know... maybe not so cruel.
Evidently the people who had them couldn't keep them and care for them for whatever reason. At least they were sensible enough to choose a home where they knew a "chicken person" lived. Maybe they were hoping to give them a chance?
Lucky you, to be honored as the chosen home. Lucky chicks too.
