I am going to assume that I am not the only person that this happens to after the holiday treats are made. I always get stuck with a 1/4 cup of this and a half a cup of that after making fudge and cookies and such. So it got me to thinking what in the world can I do with all these small amounts of things so that they don't go to waste. The answer was...mix it all together and bake it!!! I had leftover peanut butter chips, chocolate chips, butterscotch chips, pecans, walnuts, marshmallows, and a big fat roll of sugar cookie dough. I layered it all in a 9x13 pan and baked it for 30 minutes at 350* I did learn a few things to do differently next time though. Next time I will bake the dough before putting the goodies on top. So bake the dough for 12-15 minutes remove from oven top with all the leftovers and bake an additional 20 minutes or so. Make sure you cool it completely or it won't cut into bars. If you just can't wait then grab a spoon and put a big heaping spoonful over some ice cream! If you use nuts or marshmallows make sure they are nearest to the dough so they won't burn while everything is melting. There really wasn't enough of any one thing left to use in another recipe and I didn't want it to go to waste. Maybe the "leftover cookie bars" can be a treat at the New Years Party.
