Mine basically only get any meat leftovers. If there's something with a small amount of rice, etc they get that too, but I basically just chuck out stuff like meaty carcass leftovers and the like.

For me personally, owning chickens has reduced my food waste to virtual zero. Nothing is wasted. All kitchen waste is offered to he chickens in their compost pile and they eat as much as they please. I also volunteer at my food bank and bring home between 10-50# of fruits and vegetables, expired pasta and canned goods or opened product. I'll throw the excess in the freezer but nothing is wasted. Food waste from my food truck is tossed to the birds. My family contributes as well. On a weekly basis, they are offered between 0-50#. They eat fermented feed 2x a day and free range. Egg production isn't a concern as I have plenty to give away. My one small contribution to the planet.
