Leg Injury - Help needed

Stormy is spending her first night back in the big shed with the other ducks... Nervous mumma

How'd she do?

how's the egg doing any progress?

Stormys great, still has a really nasty limp but she's happy to be back in the flock. Her and her mother used to get escorted everywhere by the snowy drakes, now stormy commands them! Varia still confined to hospital with time outside.

Little egg is peeping but hole is no bigger. Might have to go in

Glad she is happy to be back with her family. I hope her leg continues to heal.

I wish you the best if you have to help.

I had to go in but the blood vessels were all absorbed, little kid just got lost

Darker one is the first born - man this duck is cute. Usually the tawney ones are our auction ducks, they get quite big and get a good price, but I dont know if I can do that with this little guy! Loves to just snuggle against my chest peeping and trying to eat my freckles. I put yellow duck in and tawney duck was not impressed....Then both my heat bulbs blew! So, yellow duck had too go back in the bator and tawney duck has a hot water bottle. Luckily the temp is high but I'll have to get a bulb somewhere tonight as it will get cool later. I believe there is an internal pip on the last egg.

I am very excited at the look of this yellow duck. Because my snowy drakes are Leelu's brothers, her characteristics pop up in strange places, and the fact this one will be white has my wheels turning....It actually LOOKS like my muscovy, but you need two white genes to make white and the scovy is speckled? Im quite confused. No wonder my duck breeding friend thought I was mad for not penning them! I like them to pair off naturally and see what occurs before I do any 'arranged marriages'

Stormy is well.

Varia appears to have some kind of conjunctivitus? I had noticed her face was a bit dry but today the eyes were crusty and sore and the feathers are falling out of her face and neck. I washed her face in warm saline and tons of gunk and feathers came off, I'll have to do it every day, poor girl. Everyone looks like they have a fierce moult going on but Ive never seen gunky eyes like this. Could it be advanced sticky eye because she doesnt want to dunk her head? I put her in the pond for swims but she never dunks her face.

I'd try to keep her eyes as clean as possible. and yes that is most likely whats going on she isn't washing her face. can you get eye salve [antibiotic]Terramycin is one we can buy here over the counter. Does she have a bucket she drinks out of you can add some ACV to it it will help with her eyes if she'll dunk her head. 1-2 Tab to 1 gal of water.

Those ducklings are adorable I love how all 3 are completely different. so happy for you that 3 have hatched. Is that it ?all the eggs?

I hope you were able to find a heat lamp.

I'll keep up with the washes and look into an over the counter thing. She does get a small bucket and I've given her ACV but she simply refuses to dunk her head. This girl of mine.

Its only 2 ducklings that have hatched so far, that's just a lot of pics! One egg left. I think I lost so many due to our weather, which I exactly why I didn't want to incubate in December.

There was a spare heat globe in the cupboard hubby didn't tell me about. I chose to leave yellow duck in the Bator because tawney duck was too much of a bully, hopefully they can sort it out tomorrow.
