My chickens have raised scales on their feet and I’m worried about mites. How do I 1. confidently diagnose mites and 2. treat them? The easier the treatment, the better please!

I had a hen get it on her legs and face and I gave her ivermectin.
Scaly mites are contagious but some hens are resistant so some people treat infected birds with Vaseline, etc on the roost at night. You won't see any new scales grow until they molt

Raised scales are a strong sign of scaly leg mites. You usually can’t see the mites, so the lifted scales are the main clue. A common treatment is coating the legs with Vaseline, coconut oil, or similar at night to suffocate them, repeat a few times a week until they improve. Scales won’t look normal until the next molt. Check the rest of your flock and clean roosts since mites spread easily.
