Legal in Spokane County to have chickens?

I was just told that it is illegal to have chickens in Spokane County unless you have 5+ acres. Has anyone else heard this? I have been told by several other people, feed stores etc that it is perfectly legal here. I've checked the laws and ordinances and could not find anything anywhere that says we can't have them. Does anyone know anything about this or know of any groups that are trying to change the legislation here in the County?
