I think you should go out behind the shed and do what you gotta.
Be neat, be clean and don't leave anything that could harbor disease after you are done.
And count your blessings you are "allowed" by your controllers to have them at all.

We must have a similar law in Western Mass. I had a conversation with a butcher at the new co-op and he said that the reason I did not see more local, pasture-fed meat for sale is because there is not a slaughterhouse anywhere near us. If meat is for commercial sale then it has to be processed at a government-inspected facility. I don't know what the deal is if it for your own consumption.

Anyone need a career change or new business plan? Come open a slaughterhouse here!

It is absurd for the government to try and regulate how citizens choose to feed themselves. I hope you fight it.

And win!

I am deeply wondering why you are encouraging breaking the law,but if it's illegal to keep chickens in my town,I'm not afraid to break the law!!!

ok ... What do the hunters do with what they get?
Or are you not allowed to hunt neither? Or processes it yourself?

Processing a Chicken is not all that difficult a task. Most people from a third world country could show you if you do not know.

Am I missing something here?
Where did you find this bit of information from?
It is not making a whole lot of sense as others are stating as well.

It's not that I do not believe what you said. It's just asinine, for such a law to exist.

A VERY quick favor...can you guys please go to thid thread that's called,

Okay, I went and looked at your town & also state law. I do not see any place that says you cannot occasionally slaughter for your personal use. State law specifically allows slaughter for your own use. What city code says is
Sec. 42-201. Offensive businesses or uses.It is unlawful for any person to establish or maintain any slaughterhouse or make a practice of slaughtering cattle, hogs, sheep or any other kind of animal, or establish or maintain any soap factory, render tallow, or pursue, maintain or carry on any other business, occupation or use offensive to the senses or prejudicial to the public health within the limits of the town. Any such premise or use shall be considered a public nuisance.
(Code 1984, § 10-1-15; Ord. No. 1620, § I, 2-1-05)
Cross references: Businesses, ch. 14.
State law references: Criminal nuisances, A.R.S. §§ 13-2908, 13-2917.

I think the phrase "make a practice of" indicates a frequency that surpasses personal use. I would send a letter to the town attorney asking for clarification on whether you are allowed to occasionally harvest your flock for your own personal use as allowed by state law.
