I have 2 "leghorns" that I got from TSC. They are about 6 weeks old and considerably larger than the RIRs and Black Australorps I got at the same time. Someone told me they look like Cornish Xs and that I should be getting ready to get them processed. I would be so sad to do that as I was prepared to get leghorns, not meat birds. One of them lays around a lot and they are quite heavy so I am thinking they are meat birds...but maybe you guys know of some other breed that I don't and they won't have to be killed. :-(

They do look like Cornish cross pullets. Sorry. I'd advise to sell or trade them to someone who wants to process them. Remember, there are worse things than a humane death. When you try to nurse them along they tend to die bad.

What a bummer....I was planning on raising some meat birds in late summer so I would've been prepared for their deaths, but I wasn't prepared for these ones to go. Well, thank you for your more-expert-than-mine opinions.

I had them processed a week or so ago. They dressed out to 3 lbs 8 oz and 4 lbs 7 oz. At least it gave me a trial run for when I get the big bunch of meat birds that I actually planned on getting later this summer.
