Leghorns -19 weeks to first eggs

Well I thought they were off their schedule due to the high winds, but todays egg song led me to investigate a tall patch of grass where I found one warm egg and a stash of 7 more. Guess I'll float test them before frying them up for the dogs. Poor puppies haen't had a proper evening meal for 2 nights now! Still no broodies but eggs aren't fertile anyway.

YEAH, Allen! Egg hunting at its finest. Through the tall grass. I hope you had your egg basket with you. 8 is a haul and pockets can be tricky. I did discover I can put a full dozen in the bib overall front pocket. So a dozen in each pocket! Baskets are better since they don't crack the eggs as much.

15 eggs yesterday. All 10 of the brown layers made a contribution. 2 speckled. I'm sure one of those is a barred rock I caught laying and she contributes a few. Don't know about the other speckled. You can see the size & color variations. All over the place but a lot of smalls.

Need to put a mat at the door so they can wipe their muddy little feet.

Wow do you OCD much? Looks like you arranged those in descending order by color and size. Actually a wonderful haul, hows the marketing director doing at her job?

Tomorrow is going to be a busy day for me with a nice reward at the end of the day. It is Gumment check day for me so pay all the bills......bulk shopping trip for the wife.....Feed Store and Vetrenarian visit planned. Oh and review my month of wants in the amazon store and buy what I need. Namely a 6gallon Beheren's feed bucket, gorilla glue and get that Sunbeam heat pad on its way here, thinking I'll just stick the gorilla glue in my cart so I don't drive 5 miles out of the way to get it. Oh I forgot to mention my reward at the end of the day is a bottle of scotch, so if I'm posting after 6-7PM tomorrow then shame on me!

The WHOLE bottle? You are a better man than I. I have to limit myself.

OCD, no. Not much. Maybe a little.

Let's not talk about marketing. Anyone want some eggs?
hehe no not the whole thing, I've managed that on a few times with those smaller 700ml ones but never with the liter sized they sell here, and don't think I would be able to enjoy being around my chicken in the morning being that hung over!

Here is my amazon cart, the baking thread folk sold Kathrin and I on the Instant Pot Duo:

Same pad i just bought.
Insta pot. Getting lots of good publicity. Still an old fashion pressure cooker with a timer. Lol

I remember Mom's pressure cooker whistling until the timer dinged. High tech until the microwave showed up.

What is the opposite of a microwave?

16 eggs last Friday for 17 birds.

The 2 smallest eggs were from last week. Then the 2 next smaller white eggs came this last Wednesday. 2 on the same day, so not the same bird. Both of those had a bit of yolk. The 2 smallest were just albumin. One with a blood spot.

The brown layers are hitting 10 more than the white layers at hitting 7. Ideal hatchery birds. Bottom line is we are getting a lot of eggs. That are getting bigger. Had a customer come back, so may be up to 2 regulars.

Other note, no spotted ones on this day. The spots are hit or miss. Mostly miss. Pretty when they show up, but are washed off with water.

@AllenK RGV I can't believe you are passing your only eggs to your neighbor and eating store bought ones. Learn how to cook eggs, you won't be sorry. Chorizo is funny smelling and some does not do well on my belly. Not a fan. Too much sulfur.

Went to Louisiana and got some real boudin. C'est bon!
