Lemon Cuckoo Orpington Auction!

I'll try to get some pics tomorrow.

And yep, it is a pretty neat color, I agree with some of the others that it it prettier that Chocolate, and by the way, the blackish/brown one like in OEGBs and Wyandottes that is sometimes called Chocolate is actually Dun, not true Chocolate. If that was the color you are referring to.

Hey Charlie and anyone else who was wanting to see, here are a couple pics of my young lemon cuckoo project roo.

This is the oldest one, I am super happy with his coloring, but he has more henish feathering and stance, I like for roos to be slow feathering and have short little cotton tails at this age.

Here he is

This one is a little younger and still has some baby down so the pattern isnt all the way in yet.

Those are really adorable. Do they hatch out yellow or white? Just curious...

To RAREROO--
Glad you posted those pics of your roos. You are right, my guy does look like that.
Since I'm very new to chickens altogether and know less than nothing about breeding for specific traits, what is the chance that my roo is one of these. Is there any way to find out for sure? If he is, WOW, what a lucky accident.

I am just getting up to speed as I have been out of the loop for about two weeks.

I just wanted to add:

Thanks Yes they are project Lemon Cuckoo Orpingtons, like you and Jody, I decided that it's not fair that the UK gets to have all the cool Orpington colors, and in several other breeds as well, so I decided to make the Lemon Cuckoos myself and I see that you all have great start on Jubilees and Mottleds.

I am really exited to see these grow up as well and I will keep you all updated on them.

They hatch out yellow, since barring dilutes whatever color it is based on, it does make the yellow a bit lighter than pure Buff Orps, but still yellow.

I really dont know, your roo did have really nice coloring, but it would take some work to get them that clean and if you say the person wasnt working a project, then yeah, I guess you just got a nice accident there.

HAHA hey Chris, yeah that would be nice, but really its just fun working with genetics and making this stuff. And yep, it will be at least 2 more generations before I start selling anything, depending on how they look at that point.

I might be interested in some eggs sooner if and when you have eggs available.. would like to cross them against a few select buffs we got here.. just let me know if you do sell any or decide to run an auction for them in the future..

I'm so glad to hear others actually working on projects and showing there progress and not just talking about how to make them, but actually making something with progress....
