I would like to get a few coturnix quail but the smallest quantity I can find is 50 or 100. Is there a good place to purchase maybe 10 or so? I really don't want to start hatching eggs just yet as the whole bird thing is new to me. Kim

Check your local Craigslist, always birds there around here. Welcome BTW, Bill

If you are looking for day-olds you can only get them in quantities of 50. This is so there are enough babies in the box for them to keep warm. You can always buy a starter flock (a male and a few females) from breeders then hatch eggs from them.

I agree, but still it's not recommended to even ship day old quail. 5 weeks tops is great age to ship in 10

This is why I say..."If you are really serious about raising game birds, you need a bator and a brooder".

Not sure why (SOME) people poo poo me on that one?

They are a dish best served....Eggs set, incubated, brooded out and put in adequate pen setups based on species.

I'm just pot shooting it here, but last time I checked...They are totally different species from chickens.

i wish there were quail on my craigslist....

i don't know where in Pa. you live but i've seen Coturnix on CL in W.V. Also, i hear you can go to the local animal auctions and get them too.
