I have a 3 day old black silkie that i got two days ago. The next morning she was wet(dang it!)and NOT ok. I warmed her and nursed her back to health all day. She seemed fine in the afternoon. This morning she seems dopey and just wants to be by the heater. she peeps a bit and perks up some when I handle her but than gets sleepy when I put her down. Any suggestions? Im new to the forum but have raised chickens for about 2 years. Could she just be super mellow? Shes also the smallest of all the chickens and puts herself under everyone which worries me.

I think you should definitely separate her from everyone else. Put a couple of spoonfuls of sugar in her water it can help perk them up a bit. Also get some childrens poly-vi-sol vitamin drops WITHOUT iron. You can give a drop a day for a few weeks. You can also try feeding her some boiled egg yolk along with her chick starter. It is a good source of protein and is soft enough for the tiny ones to eat. Is she eating? You may want to soften her food with a little warm water to make it a little easier for her to eat.
Hope she does okay

I'm not sure what to tell you to do but I wanted to tell you what happened to me maybe it will help you. I had a smaller silkie chick that was putting herself under the others and the others were always steping on it and it died. Can you move it by it's self for a while? Sorry I'm not much help but if it was mine I would more her. Do you have anything in the water it's drinking?

it may just be a week chick sometimes there is more going on then we can see. I would seperate with one other for comfort and put a little Poly-vi-sol in the water. also grind up the starter feed so it is really fine (sometimes the little ones have a hard time with the bigger stuff) a coffee grinder works great.

Good Luck.
