So essentially once you see a small piece of lash material pass…..it’s typically downhill from there for the chicken?Does anyone recognize this? It’s that a worm or just part of the poop?
I’m thinking she is/has developed EYP based on symptoms from another chicken I have. Salpingitis? Worm or just black poop?
Would greatly appreciate any thoughts!

Sometimes they can recover but will have peritonitis for the rest of their lives. May lay soft shell eggs or even more lashed eggs but eventually they will quit laying any kind of an egg.So essentially once you see a small piece of lash material pass…..it’s typically downhill from there for the chicken?
These two haven’t laid since the summer.Sometimes they can recover but will have peritonitis for the rest of their lives. May lay soft shell eggs or even more lashed eggs but eventually they will quit laying any kind of an egg.
Not always. I have a hen who laid lash material over 3 years ago. She never did it again and is 4.5 years old now and doing fine. But she is not a high production breed. So essentially once you see a small piece of lash material pass…..it’s typically downhill from there for the chicken?
Thank you. I feel for them. The one on the left ( large crate) has been sick since end of September. Not always. I have a hen who laid lash material over 3 years ago. She never did it again and is 4.5 years old now and doing fine. But she is not a high production breed.
Your poor girls look very ill. If they were mine, if they did not respond to a course of good antibiotics, I would euthanize. I'm very sorry you and they are going through this.
