Lethargic chicken:: Yellow poop, lash

Should I treat the other 3 hens in any way to prevent or try to lessen the chance of them developing EYP or Salpingitis?

Out of the 5..( 3 are in coop, 2 sick are in garage) Only two are laying. I could care less about egg production. I believe they are Red Sex Linked hens. I wish I would of known more when I got them, almost seems inhumane to be bred in such a way. I compare where purchased/breed to something similar to a puppy mill. 😔

Anyway, I just want them to be health, happy, and not suffer.

EYP and Salpingitis I don't think are contagious, so you wouldn't have to treat everyone. I could be wrong though.
Sex links are bred to lay eggs so therefore they get more illnesses, reproduction issues are very common in them. In the future when choosing breeds, pick ones that don't lay as many eggs and choose heritage breeds.

Since the other seemly healthy hen in coop/run isn’t laying, I’m afraid she will be next 😞

Didn’t know if I could prevent bacteria ?!

I agree with you wholeheartedly. Humans are always trying to improve our lives, without considering the consequences to the animals.

So essentially once you see a small piece of lash material pass…..it’s typically downhill from there for the chicken?

Thank you. I feel for them. The one on the left ( large crate) has been sick since end of September.

I purchased 10% powder Enrofloxin. Do you know how to dose it to a singe bird? Or just use the mixed gallon dose and syringe it several times a day?
Mix your Enro according to the directions. You can mix it with some juice or stir in some karo syrup to help make it more palatable. I have not tasted it, but know a couple of folks that have and they say it's bitter. Syringe the medicated water/juice into her several times a day if she's not drinking on her own.
If you wish, you can make smaller batches like a quart at a time, just use 1/4tsp Enro to 1quart of water/juice/sweetener.

I would get calcium into her as well. This may help with contractions and she can pass the material on out more easily.

As to whether or not dose the others, that's a call you would need to make. Salpingitis can be caused by various things - E. Coli infection, Protozoa, history of respiratory disease, etc. The Enro would certainly help with E. Coli infection, but of course, we don't know the cause - so your call.
