My pride and joy, my beautiful Dutchy (a Mille Fleur Belgian D’uccle) has suddenly become very lethargic. She kind of just sits there, mostly sleeping, not caring if the other chicks bump her... I don’t know exactly what’s wrong, but I have some ideas...

1. We just replaced their old little waterer last night with two nipple waterers. I didn’t think she had drunk any last night, but I saw her drinking this morning... could she be dehydrated from last night?

2. I took her into school today for a project (along with two of her friends). She mostly slept through the whole thing. Could this have really stressed her and made her worse?

Aside from that I have no idea what could be wrong with her! She is not picked on by the others although she does allow herself to bebpushed around a bit more... she has always been very energetic and confident. Now she is just, well, bleh.

Here is the Dutchy of Yesterday morning:

Please, PLEASE help me... what should I do? Separate her? Should I separate her and add sugar to her water?
Does anyone know what’s wrong with her? I just want to help my baby and I feel so horrible right now!!

I’m not sure... should I put anything in her water or food? Like sugar or something like that? What about probiotics? ACV? Electrolytes? I have a separate heat lamp so should I add that? Anything else? I know this seems silly but should I add in a stuffy for comfort? I’m sorry for all of the questions but I just want to do this right!

Thanks everyone! I’ve separated her in her own box with a heat lamp, food, warm sugar water and some fluffy balls for comfort. I dipped her beak in the water and placed her under the heat... she’s sleeping right now, at first called for the others, but she can still hear them. I think she’s comfortable, what do you think?

She looks content. Keep an eye on her droppings and let us know if there are anymore symptoms so we can narrow down what's wrong with her. Hopefully it's just stress and you will wakeup tomorrow to find her energetic again. :fl

Also did she get a Mareks vaccination?

I’ve always given my chicks probiotics and electrolytes for the first week or so. You could maybe try this. Also check for pasty butt. I don’t feed medicated but that’s a personal preference. I hope she’s feeling better. I’m waiting on 2 porcelain Belgium d’uccles I can’t wait.
