I'm sorry for your loss. I know most people put their grit in a separate bowl. I started giving mine a Teaspoon-Tablespoon over their food when they were little, so I knew they'd eaten it. I just continued it in adulthood. I grab a handful of grit and Oyster Shells (once they are laying age) and throw it on top of the food. If there's any left, I toss it on the next day's food. For ducklings I use chick Grit but 8 weeks move up to layer grit, unless they are Call Ducks, then I use Grower Grit. I feel like putting it on the food ensures they eat it better. I know this year I've not had any problem with soft shells and last year when I got my Call Ducks they were having soft shelled eggs. Thanks for all the advice. Sadly she passed away. For the other two ducklings is it safe to keep the offering of grit next to the feeder? They help themselves to it but I’m worried they are eating to much. Is it better to mix it in their feed? After losing one I would hate to do something wrong with my remaining ducklings.![]()
