Lethargic goose; not eating. Please help!

My one year old female Toulouse has been lethargic for the past 4 days now. She has no interest in eating, is quieter than normal, and doesn't have much energy. Her legs are also pale, and she hasn't laid an egg in a while (but I assume that's due to her not feeling well). She just seems tired all of the time. She does still drink a lot though. Her droppings are very clear and runny.

I've tried letting her soak in a bath of warm water, and have given her a little Epsom salt water 2 times a day. Nothing seems to be helping, though she does enjoy the baths! All of my other birds are absolutely fine, so I'm not sure what's going on with her.

I'm getting more and more worried about her, given that she won't eat! Are there any remedies I could try for her, or should I take her to an avian vet? Thank you!

Try adding some organic apple cider vinegar to her water and I also use these electrolytes and probiotics for my ducks when they are injured or sick as a boost. These are all safe for geese.

Yes that does sound like how she's been recently. So what do you think she has?

I started to give her diatomaceous earth (food grade) water twice daily. I just started it 1 1/2 days ago. That seems to have helped her out a lot. She's definitely not 100% yet, but is starting to show good signs of improvement. She's more active, will eat a little bit, and is more vocal.

That does sound like what she has. It would make sense because it's been so wet and rainy here for weeks now! Their food is stored in a dry place, but it being outside for them to eat it, it probably did get moist from all the rain. I guess all my chickens and my other goose lucked out and didn't get sick. I do definitely think that's what she has though!

I’m glad we found out what it is! It seems to be easy to fix, and you said she is already doing better so that’s a plus. You can probably prevent this by feeding them only what they can eat at one time or making something to cover their food.

Yes, thank you so much! I probably would have never known what was wrong with her otherwise. She still won't eat a whole lot though, but maybe it's just gonna take her a while to completely recover and get her appetite back. The weather is supposed to be pretty decent here the next few days, so at least it won't be so wet around here.

I also picked up some organic apple cider vinegar when I was out today! I added it to their water a little bit ago and she drank a little of it. I'm also going to continue the diatomaceous earth water twice a day too, as it seems to have helped her a little bit. I've ordered those Sav-A-Chick probiotics/electrolytes too! They seem like they'd be pretty handy to have.

Either way I'm going to be a lot more careful when feeding them now, especially when it's all rainy and wet out! I don't want anyone to be sick. I'll be sure to keep you updated! Thank you!
