Hi my chicken (smooshy) is not looking so good. She is standing hunched over and not moving much, I got her sugar water and some food and she ate a lot but didn’t drink much so I added the food to the sugar water and she liked that. She is a pullet and a little stunted in her growth, so she looks younger than she is (probably 4 mo) and hasn’t started laying yet so I know she is not egg bound. Please help she is very sweet and I love her a lot♥️

Welcome to BYC. Can you feel of her crop in her upper right chest, and check if it is full, soft, hard or puffy? Is she pooping normally, and are they runny or is there any blood in them? Since coccidiosis is common in young chickens, I would get some Corid (amprollium) at your feed store and start treatment for coccidiosis. Dosage is 1 1/2 teaspoonful of Corid powder per gallon of water for 5-7 days. If you get the Corid liquid, use 2 tsp per gallon.

K thx, should I separate her? She has more of a bony chest, it’s not full or puffy, and I have not checked her poo yet but I will

Alright, here’s a little update. We took Smooshy to the vet and they gave her antibiotics since I can’t afford a blood test (I’m only 13) and I think it should help. I put her in a separate pen and gave her lots and lots of food and water as she is very small and the vet wants her to gain weight. She appeared to be constipated until I stuck my finger up her vent (again, only 13), then at the vet she decided to poop on me so that’s not an issue I’m going to try and keep her alive please pray

What kind of antibiotics? Did the vet think she might have coccidiosis? As for her cross beak problem, she may get more to eat if you feed her out of a bowl with higher sides, and add water to her chicken feed to make it like oatmeal. Only put out enough for that day, and wash the bowl daily so that it doesn’t get moldy.
