We have a baby goose! I set 6 eggs, hatch was a bust. I set 4 eggs and 1 hatched (this one). Set 4 more eggs and 1 is growing wonderfully. Shellie from Celtic Oaks is amazing FYI! <3 xxx Wonderful tips and encouragement! I was totally hatching wrong and she caught it. Yay!

So my little dilemma NOW is that I have a long gosling. I have never had a gosling hatchling. EVER. Just the babies we got from Metzers and there were 2 of them. I have two 3 week old ducklings I reserved from a prior hatch just in case but right now they are way way too big from my baby Brown African. I have 3 and 4 week old chicks. We have the gear for a gosling but what we don't have right now is a buddy. The next viable goose egg isn't set to hatch for 15 more days. Two weeks! ahh! I WILL have ducklings hatching around that same time. The 19th/20th of this month for the ducks and lone goose egg.

I am going to check with a local goose breeder and see if she has any very young goslings I could buy. But beyond that...I guess we sorta 'parent' the gosling until she can be big enough to be with the ducklings that are 3 weeks older than she is?

Are you close enough to drive and buy a "sibling" from Holderread's or Metzer? If not, the gosling will be fine with similar sized ducklings or in a pinch, even week old chicks until you have something else hatch. Good luck!

I got the niacin. Its regular kind 100mg. Mixed it in a gallon of water. I started the treatment this afternoon. So now im crossing fingers and hoping.
I got a good look at my last duckling when i took him out of the hatcher, its Black instead of brown. Hes a cutie, they all are. im proud of my first duck hatch 11 out of 12 eggs set. I should have gotten ducks a long time ago. Im headed out to buy them a pool of their own this evening.

I have 2 goslings with their head looking out and one more pipped. I do not think the 4th one is going to make it. Just waiting now for them to totally hatch they have until tomorrow which is 30 days.
