I can see why people would want emus. I've met a few cool ones and the babies are adorable. Ostriches, on the other hand... aren't they extremely dangerous?

Dangerous?? maybe Emu's would be cool.

I have heard that they can completely gut you with one kick if cornered. My husband and mom have been tryin to talk me out of it. Its probably just stay a dream of mine but if i got the chance id still give it a try. Maybe ill just take baby steps toward it and try something like peacocks next lol i have chickens, guineas and geese so that might be the next thing lol or turkeys.

I agree...the babies are adorable and the adults are a LOT more docile than other ratites. Ostriches can be extremely dangerous and yes...can KILL you!

Id try anything once. I never thought id have geese since i was attacked by a gander that my grandmother had when i was 4 yrs old, i had hair long enough to sit on and he chased me around her house grabbed my hair and "para sailed" off my head while i was running around screaming for my mom. He wouldnt let go. Took both my mom and grandmother to get him to let go.

I think it's making up for the early spring last year

Started snowing here about 7pm tonight

Peasue I know you are right about the early spring last year and making up this year. Right now it is raiing here and I know that will be turning to snow tomorrow.
Taaking care of all the critter's last week while hubby was gone got me sick with this weather. Now I am having a hard time keeping up with my turning of eggs in the one incubator. Thank God it was lockdown time........
I was lacking of cleaning the diapear today on the goslings. So even if it is late I have to clean diaper time for my goslings. I sold them and can not send them until this weather is better............

yeah, I followed the hatching guide closely. I started with 4 eggs .... 2 were infertile, 1 had to be helped out and never really was "active". the other didn't make it out of the shell. I'm thinking they may have been weak to begin with.

this next batch, 7 brown Chinese geese will hopefully grow better and have a better hatch.

Peasue we had rain last night and it turned into snow started very early this morning! It is still snowing and looks like we are going to get a lot. I went out to feed the geese and it is already about 4-5 inches with steady snow. I am keeping the geese in today and I fed them for all day. I do not need to be out in this because I got a cold taking care of all the critters last week while husband was on a fishing vacation. Do you think he would go out and do the geese for me, heck NO.
He is retired and while I went out in this sick he is sitting on his butt playing poker on his phone.

How is the snow at your place peasue?
