I thought your 'bator was a pressure cooker!

Didn't even realize St Pat's day was coming up, I have a EE hatching out that day!

Here are the egg weights from yesterday, but I think after I post these I will just trace the air cell.

Day 17
Egg 1-152, 2-144, 3-162, 4-171.

Day 18
Egg 1-151, 2-144, 3-161, 4-169.

(these are all in grams, by the way.)

I love all the pretty gosling pics! I can't wait for mine to get here on the 24th!

When I left this morning for dialysis I checked the eggs and there are 4 pipped. I got home and two have hatched and are still in the incubator drying off!
I took a picture of the two but you can hardly see it. It is blurr. I told my husband to keep an eye on the eggs while I was at dialysis. Told him do not let the goslings get into the water in the bowl in there. So I ask how they were and he got up and went into my bedroom to check. I was not happy when I seen they had been in the water it has blood in it. So please excuse the water it was clean this morning. Men.

I will get better pictures of them when they dry off... But for now this is all I have. We do have colored sebbies.

Okay please if you would, explain to those who don't know the difference between an icubator and a hatcher, since I've never hatched egg other than by a broody I have no idea what your talking about. Thanks.

I have the eggs in forced air incubators until they pip internally. Once they do that, I move them to still air incubator units that are only used to for eggs that are hatching: No turners, and no fans for less chance of shrink wrapping. This way, having the separate incubator used only for hatching, you can do staggered hatching: Set eggs any day of the week because you move them prior to them hatching!

For those of us crazy chicken ladies, or in some case weird wild waterfowl women, who keep incubators full and running all the time, having a separate unit to hatch in is a must.

As far as the hatcher goes- I have a circulated air incubator that I use for eggs that are ready to hatch. If I am running out of room in the incubators, sometimes I will put the next set due in there, and not add the water until I see them shadowing. Haven't had a problem with the fan running as long as the holes are plugged,.

We have 3 goslings nowout of 5 eggs set. One is still in the egg so depending on the gosling we might have one more. But here are the 3 little darlings...

Thank you everyone this is our first of the year goslings. This year will be better than last year for sure already.
