Let's have a gosling hatchalong!

Congrats on the 4 fertile eggs!

Not a bad rate for shipped eggs. Congrats! Pics??

Good job KuntryGirl. If they are first year layers, Dave Holderread says that their fertility will be spotty until at least half way through their first season when it will begin to improve. Hopefully, mama duck and moma turkey hatch some for you too!

50% on shipped goose eggs isn't terrible. They are SO difficult to ship without the air cells being severely damaged. I agree with Iain...pics please!!!!!!

I have had the best of luck hatching this year. I have the German Pomeranian Geese and Chinese. It has taken some research and alot of patience but they are hatching and doing well. With Easter around the I corner have not been able to keep any for myself yet. But I am so thankful. I set them weekly and have had them hatching since last week in February. And they are still laying. Anyone else having a good run.

Glad you are having such a good year. Anything in particular that you are doing that you think has madd it work out so well? I am not setting my goose eggs until April 4 - so starting to collect them soon now.
Congratulations!

Backwood, congrats! Your season started a lot earlier than mine. My Africans started laying in mid February, with the first one set to hatch later this week, but my dewlaps only started last week with three girls yet to start and my greylag girl laid her first egg of 2013 two days ago.

I set Sebbies/Tufted Roman mix eggs on Saturday (3/16). Any guesses how many days until I should expect goslings? (This will be my second goose batch ever, but my first batch (Embdens) are still incubating)

I just set my goose and duck eggs in early lockdown! They're due on Easter, and I can't wait! Since I'm feeding them chick starter, apparently they need brewer's yeast, but I don't know how much I should give them, or when I should give it to them. Any suggestions?

Went out today and gathered eggs from each open nest with no goose on them. So took from each nest and marked each one. Have to let them rest now and come to room temp, weigh then put into the incubator. Tested on eggs and it was fertile. So we shall see what happens.

Have eggs in the other incubator so will see how they come out by Maarch 26th or 27th of this month.

A teaspoon or so on each serving of food when using a 1 quart feeder.
See if any of your local feed stores can order you a bag of Mazuri waterfowl starter. It is pricey, but worth every penny for the geese.
Also, once they are a couple weeks old, you can take them outside to graze for a few minutes a day. If you can't do that, you can offer them grit and some finely chopped romaine lettuce as well. They LOVE it.

Since they are a smaller cross, my best guess would be 29 days, 30 on the outside.

Good luck!! How many eggs are in your bators now?

Just put 5 eggs in the 'bator this afternoon from my new pair of brown chinese. Should be due april 19th or so. Can't wait to see those little web footed balls of fluff.

Welcome to the thread! Congrats on getting a new pair of geese and setting eggs!
